Description

Resisting Systemic Oppression

This workshop delves into the concepts of oppression, anti-oppression, and intersectionality through frameworks developed by Black feminist theorists. Participants will deepen their understandings of what oppression means in a variety of contexts and how social, material, and ideological environments work together to produce and reinforce oppression. we will explore how systems of oppression are both ideological (highly structured sets of ideas and values) and material (tangible spaces and processes we navigate). We'll learn about how all of these systems are tied up in complicated ways, and learn how to resist them together. This session will include lecture, interactive activities, group discussion, and personal reflection.
